Murmuration Level 2 at Halle Tony GarnierAt Halle Tony Garnier, we are delighted to welcome Murmuration Level 2, the latest evolution of the visionary ensemble work choreographed by Sadeck Berrabah. Our vast, modular space is designed to celebrate scale, and few contemporary creations use scale as musically and mathematically as this one: lines of dancers breathe in unison, arms carve spirals and lattices, and patterns travel across the floor with the quiet inevitability of tides. From our vantage as host, the appeal is clear: Murmuration Level 2 transforms a stage into a living instrument, where precision becomes poetry and geometry becomes emotion. The piece expands on the language that captivated audiences worldwide in previous iterations, deepening the dialogue between hundreds of synchronized gestures and the audience’s collective gaze. For this tour stop, our teams have calibrated sightlines and seating to preserve the mesmerizing clarity of each canon, ripple, and counter-rotation. The result is an architectural meeting: the architecture of movement and the architecture of Halle Tony Garnier, aligned to reveal the musicality of symmetry, contrast, and time. Inside the experience: precision, scale, and lightHosting Sadeck Berrabah’s company at Halle Tony Garnier invites us to think about how space frames perception. Murmuration Level 2 thrives on distance: seen from our central floor, motifs gather like constellations; from higher tiers, the macro-image clicks into focus, and the audience perceives waves, spirals, and tessellations that could not exist at smaller scale. Artistically, the work’s current momentum is palpable—new sequences lean into velocity and suspension, alternating rapid-fire canons with suspended, near-silent tableaux. The choreography’s signature vocabulary of armwork is now threaded with layered timing, creating visual polyrhythms that play against the score’s percussive pulses and sudden hushes. In partnership with the production, we’ve tuned our rig to favor crisp top-light and low-angle sidelight, so every hinge of an elbow and every tilt of a wrist reads with graphic clarity. The floor is dressed to absorb glare, framing the dancers’ silhouettes like ink on paper. As hosts, we relish this level of specificity: a show that treats light, shadow, and spacing with the same rigor it applies to movement. Murmuration Level 2 also reshapes the social experience of a large venue. At Halle Tony Garnier, the choreography’s magnetism pulls the audience into collective attention: breaths align, reactions ripple, and the room becomes a resonant chamber for focus itself. Our ushers and technical crews have plotted traffic flow to preserve the immersive hush that Sadeck Berrabah cultivates between phrases, while ensuring accessibility and comfort across every section. Whether you’re close enough to feel the air of each sweeping gesture or seated to take in the grand mosaic, the vantage points are carefully considered to honor the work’s architecture. The score’s low frequencies are balanced to support the kinetic illusion without overpowering the delicacy of unison; the lighting transitions are feathered to keep the eye inside the choreography’s compass. As the tournée brings this new chapter to Lyon, we are proud to offer a stage where scale, discipline, and imagination converge—where the mathematics of movement meet the humanity of an audience gathered under one roof.
