Duo Andaluz – Guitare & Violon at Espace culturel du Vieux Lyon

From our stage at Espace culturel du Vieux Lyon, we are delighted to welcome Duo Andaluz – Guitare & Violon for an evening devoted to the living heartbeat of Iberian strings. In our intimate, stone-lined room, the dialogue between guitar and violin breathes with clarity, letting every rasgueado shimmer and every bowed phrase bloom naturally in the air. As a venue known for the warmth of its acoustics and the proximity it creates between artists and audience, we have curated this encounter to highlight the duo’s encyclopedic palette: the lithe elegance of chamber music, the earthy pulse of Andalusian rhythms, and the lyrical freedom of improvisation. Duo Andaluz draws listeners into a landscape where melodies circle and transform, where a single motif can shift from whisper to whirlwind, and where the musicians’ eyes and breath cue each turn. Our hall’s balanced resonance allows the crisp articulation of the guitar to interlock with the violin’s vocal lines, so you hear the conversation as it happens—alive, unfiltered, and vividly human.

Beyond this concert, Duo Andaluz arrives at Espace culturel du Vieux Lyon in a moment of artistic expansion. The duo has been refining a new program this season that delves deeper into Andalusian color while opening windows to neighboring traditions across the Mediterranean and Latin world. Listeners will recognize how the pair shapes familiar contours into fresh, narrative arcs: a languid introduction unfurls into a dancing rhythm; a delicate ornament suddenly flashes into a burst of virtuosity; a hushed cadence invites the room to lean forward, before the bow and fingers launch into quicksilver interplay. We value how they approach repertoire as a living practice—honoring lineage while testing new balances of texture, counterpoint, and pulse. Expect original arrangements that place the violin as both singer and percussionist, tapping and bowing to accent the guitar’s syncopations, and expect the guitar to move from anchoring bass figures to crystalline treble lines, sketching entire orchestras with six strings. For us as a venue, this is precisely the kind of craftsmanship we love to spotlight: fiercely disciplined, yet always searching for the next breath of spontaneity.

An intimate, resonant evening in the heart of Vieux Lyon

Our space in the Old Town is built for nights like this. The scale encourages quiet listening and gives every seat a clear view of the performers’ craft—hands shaping phrases, bodies marking time, and subtle cues that turn two instruments into one agile organism. Duo Andaluz has tailored its set for our room, favoring pieces whose dynamic range thrives in close quarters: meditative preludes that bloom into fleet dances; call-and-response episodes that travel from one side of the stage to the other; and soulful cantilenas that ride the violin’s upper register while the guitar plants a heartbeat beneath. The program architecture invites you to follow a journey through light and shadow, heat and cool, with transitions that feel almost cinematic. As hosts, we will shape the evening around clarity and presence: a stage layout that brings the instruments forward, lighting that caresses rather than dazzles, and pacing that lets each resolution resonate before the next adventure begins. In the historic streets outside, Vieux Lyon hums; inside, time gathers around two artists who know how to make silence sing as eloquently as sound.
