Vagabundus at Radiant-Bellevue

Radiant-Bellevue is proud to welcome Vagabundus, a creation that speaks to the restless pulse of travel, encounter, and reinvention. From the first moments, the piece invites our audience in Caluire-et-Cuire to drift through a succession of vivid tableaux, where bodies draw maps in motion and light sketches new horizons onstage. Our hall, renowned for its warm acoustics and precise sightlines, provides the ideal setting for an experience that blends movement, music, and visual poetry. The staging places intimacy and amplitude in constant dialogue: a hush of breath and skin against the floor, then a surge of ensemble energy that fills the room. Vagabundus is conceived to immerse rather than merely display, with a sensorial approach to rhythm and gesture that brings spectators close to the heart of the journey. Expect sculptural lighting, an evolving scenography that transforms with each scene, and a sound design that moves like a compass needle—sometimes anchored in the body’s percussive cadence, sometimes opening into a broad, cinematic sweep.

From the rehearsal room to the Radiant-Bellevue stage

At Radiant-Bellevue, we have followed the creative path of this project with curiosity and admiration, noting how each rehearsal block sharpened the piece’s language while keeping its generous, open-ended spirit. The ensemble’s craft is striking: hand-to-hand balances that feel like fleeting shelters, elastic partnering that tests the edges of trust, and a dramaturgy that unfolds through spaces as much as through story. Live musical textures—plucked strings, breathy reeds, and subtle electronics—cross paths with the pulse of steps, making the performers’ bodies part of the score. What stands out today is the maturity of the collective’s vision: Vagabundus treats movement as a terrain of discovery, where micro-gestures hold the same weight as soaring, athletic passages. The result is a dance-circus language that resists labels, as comfortable with physical theater’s nuance as with the joy of momentum and flight. Our technical team has configured the room to support the production’s fluid changes of scale, with carefully mapped rigging, immersive sound, and dynamic light cues that let the piece breathe and grow from scene to scene.

We have designed the audience experience around the core themes of Vagabundus—transit, community, and the sparks of connection that appear when paths cross. In the foyer and in the hall, the atmosphere encourages a shared sense of anticipation before the first cue, then a collective stillness as the performance unfolds. The venue’s spacious stage accommodates the work’s shifting landscapes: a corridor of light that narrows the world to a single step, a sudden burst of color that opens a new destination, a field of shadows where the smallest gesture becomes luminous. Without overstating any single narrative, the performers invite us to recognize our own footsteps in the patterns they draw. In this way, Vagabundus speaks to seasoned dance-goers and newcomers alike, inviting each to find their personal resonance—maybe in the lift that defies gravity, maybe in the quiet exchange between two figures at center stage. At Radiant-Bellevue, we value this kind of encounter, one that lingers beyond the final blackout and continues in conversations on the way home through Caluire-et-Cuire.
