Peter Doherty at TransbordeurAt Transbordeur, we are delighted to welcome Peter Doherty for a much-anticipated stop on his current tour, a night that celebrates one of British music’s most distinctive voices. As co-founder of The Libertines and frontman of Babyshambles, he has shaped two decades of indie songwriting; as a solo artist, he has sharpened that legacy with new chapters that resonate powerfully on stage. In recent years, his creative momentum has been undeniable. The Libertines returned in force with the 2024 album All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade, signposted by the single Run, Run, Run and the cinematic Night of the Hunter. Alongside that band story, his solo collaboration with Frédéric Lo yielded 2022’s The Fantasy Life of Poetry & Crime, a work of gentle intensity featuring the luminous single You Can’t Keep It From Me Forever. The candid 2023 documentary Peter Doherty: Stranger in My Own Skin has also added depth to his public portrait, capturing the resilience and clarity that now animate his writing and performance. Hosting him in Lyon, our mission is simple: to create a space where this renewed artistry can breathe, surprise, and connect, whether you are discovering him anew or following his journey across albums, bands, and stages. The show at TransbordeurFor this date at Transbordeur, we are preparing a staging that puts the words and melodic craft front and centre, with sound that flatters the acoustic textures and a lighting design that supports the narrative arc of the set. Expect a fluid setlist that threads together intimate solo pieces, choice cuts from his recent projects, and reimagined highlights from a storied catalogue. Hearing The Fantasy Life of Poetry & Crime and You Can’t Keep It From Me Forever in our hall’s warm acoustics promises a vivid, confessional immediacy, while newer material associated with his band work—like Run, Run, Run and Night of the Hunter—carries a driving, cinematic energy that our room is built to amplify. Whether Doherty appears alone with a guitar or flanked by a small ensemble, our production team balances detail and atmosphere: clear vocals that sit close to the listener, subtly mic’d strings, and just enough stage haze to sculpt a living portrait without losing the intimacy that defines his shows. From the front rail to the balconies, sightlines at Transbordeur reward attention; from first chord to final encore, you can expect dynamic shifts—hushed verses that invite pin-drop silence, then surges of chorus where the room sings back. This event also lands at an exciting moment in Doherty’s creative life. Alongside recent recordings and touring, he continues to write, paint, and collaborate—a multidisciplinary thread that informs the emotional colour of the performance. On our stage, the play between tenderness and volatility feels especially alive: a fingerpicked confession can open into a widescreen refrain in seconds, with lyrics that linger long after the reverb fades. We’ve shaped the night to honour that duality. Doors and changeovers are timed to allow an unhurried arrival; merchandise is curated to reflect both his current discography and his broader artistic world; the room mix supports spontaneous detours, whether he unveils a new piece or revisits a song in an unexpected arrangement. Above all, we are proud to host an artist who continues to move forward—folding the wisdom of the road into fresh songs, inviting audiences into the process, and proving that reinvention can feel both brave and warmly familiar. Join us at Transbordeur for an evening that captures the immediacy of the present moment—where recent singles sit comfortably beside deeper cuts, and where every lyric finds the space it deserves.
