Le Repas des Gens at Radiant-Bellevue

At Radiant-Bellevue, we welcome Le Repas des Gens with the pleasure of hosting a theatrical encounter designed for closeness, attention, and shared presence. Our main stage in Caluire-et-Cuire, at the gates of Lyon, is prepared to serve the generosity of this piece: clear, warm acoustics for the living grain of the spoken word; lighting that shapes an intimate, hospitable atmosphere; and sightlines that favor the sensation of “being at the same table,” wherever you are seated. In dialogue with the company, our technical crew is tailoring the space so that the performance’s play with community, memory, and everyday dignity can unfold naturally. From foyer to stage, we want the experience to feel like a carefully set place for gathering—without fuss, without distance, but with a theatrical precision that keeps every gesture visible and every silence eloquent. The heart of the evening is the attention paid to people—their stories, their ways of listening, the rituals that allow a group to exist. Radiant-Bellevue offers the room; the show brings the living city into it.

François Cervantes: presence, repertoire, and new encounters

Le Repas des Gens arrives as part of the ongoing artistic journey of François Cervantes, whose work continues to travel across theaters and communities in France and beyond. With his long-standing complice Catherine Germain and the Marseille-based L’Entreprise, he has cultivated a theater of proximity that turns the ordinary into the essential. Audiences who have met the emblematic figure of Arletti in Arletti, une clownerie, or discovered the delicate metaphysics of Le 6e Jour, will recognize the same tender persistence here: a way of seating art at the table of everyday life, and of letting the stage become a place where strangers converse. In recent seasons, Cervantes has reaffirmed this line of exploration by deepening collaborative processes that listen to the textures of a city—its voices, languages, small ceremonies, and undesigned poetry. Each stop becomes a chance to articulate theater as civic hospitality: not a lecture, not a ceremony of opinions, but an invitation to share attention. That is exactly the spirit we are preparing to shelter at Radiant-Bellevue.

On our stage, Le Repas des Gens evokes the warmth and complexity of sitting together, here and now, with the people of a place. The performance is anchored in simple acts—the kind that often escape notice—treated with the delicacy of craftsmanship: a word that changes tone, a pause that lets us breathe, the common understanding that forms when you feel seen. We are shaping the room to heighten those nuances: a soundscape that can hold a whisper without losing clarity; light that can draw a circle of intimacy around a crowd; and a rhythm of entrances and exits that keeps the flow of stories alive. For the Lyon metropolis, this evening is also a meeting point: audiences who know the rigor of Cervantes’s repertoire, newcomers curious about theater as social art, neighbors from Caluire-et-Cuire who want to sense their city in a fresh mirror. Our role, as a venue, is to let this choreography of attention happen with ease and precision—so that what remains, once the stage goes dark, is the feeling of having truly shared time together.
