Gad Elmaleh brings Lui-Même to Radiant-Bellevue

At Radiant-Bellevue, we are thrilled to welcome Gad Elmaleh with his new show, Lui-Même, a homecoming of sorts for an artist who has taken French stand-up to international stages and brought it back richer, sharper, and more personal than ever. In our theatre, known for its warm sightlines and crisp acoustics, the intimacy between performer and audience is paramount, and Gad’s quicksilver style—nimble storytelling, pitch-perfect characters, and bilingual turns of phrase—thrives in exactly this kind of setting. Expect an evening that feels both spontaneous and meticulously crafted, as he pivots from off-the-cuff exchanges to finely honed bits about language, family, and the comic misunderstandings that come with living between cultures. As a venue, we relish artists who play the room like an instrument, and Gad’s timing, musicality, and physical presence make every seat feel close to the stage. With Lui-Même, he returns to the essentials of stand-up while allowing his life’s recent chapters to filter into the material, all with the ease and generosity that have made him a favorite here and abroad.

A timely return: recent works and influences

Lui-Même arrives at Radiant-Bellevue at a moment when Gad Elmaleh’s creative profile is especially vibrant. His tour de force in the autobiographical film Reste un peu reaffirmed his gift for blending vulnerability and comedy, while his run of English-language projects—Gad Gone Wild and American Dream—expanded his fanbase and deepened his command of cross-cultural humor. On the small screen, the series Huge in France offered a meta, razor-edged look at celebrity and identity, themes that continue to echo in his stand-up with renewed relevance. More recently on stage, D’ailleurs reminded audiences how seamlessly he can switch registers, moving from deadpan to exuberant mimicry in a heartbeat. In Lui-Même, you’ll recognize that same elasticity: observational snapshots of everyday life collide with reflections on roots and reinvention, filtered through a performer who can pivot between French and English rhythms without losing the punch of either. As a venue, we see how this hybrid sensibility energizes a room; laughter rolls in waves as callbacks and multilingual asides snap neatly into place.

Hosting Lui-Même at Radiant-Bellevue means shaping an evening where the storytelling is heightened by the space itself. Our stage is designed for clarity—when Gad changes posture to inhabit a character, when he lets a silence breathe before a punchline, when a whispered aside becomes the biggest laugh of the night, the room responds with precision. The show’s architecture favors rolling momentum over set pieces: quick sketches of city life, the social choreography of family gatherings, the comic pitfalls of travel, and the affectionate ribbing of cultural clichés. Fans who discovered him through Huge in France or American Dream will recognize the international lens, while long-time admirers of his francophone stand-up will find the nuances and cadences that first made him magnetic. Lui-Même is, above all, a testament to the artist’s craft—he trims, reframes, and rebuilds material in real time, turning audience energy into new contours. As the lights rise on our stage, we’re ready for that alchemy to unfold, one carefully timed beat at a time.
